John Smith’s Grand National

The John Smith's Grand National is the most famous and the most popular horse race in the United Kingdom and each year it attracts visitors from all over the world.  People who don't normally watch horse racing often watch and even attend the Grand National due to its reputation.

For those of you who don't already know, the John Smith's Grand National is a Grade 3 handicap chase currently restricted to six year old horses and above.  The length of the race track is 4 miles, 4 furlongs (7242 metres) at Aintree Racecourse, which most of you will know is in Liverpool, usually on a Saturday in early April.  Throughout the race each of the horses have to jump thirty fences.

This years John Smith's Grand National is due to take place over the weekend of April 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Grand National Accommodation

In 2007 the Grand National attracted 150,000 race goers over the three days from all over the country, a record which is due to be smashed this year.  If you are attending this years Grand National from outside of Liverpool and are looking for accommodation, Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa still have rooms available.
